Title: Payroll Accountant
Location: Calabasas, CA
Schedule: Hours of operation for the office are typically Monday through Friday, 8:30a.m. to 5:30p.m. Occasional overtime may be required. Hybrid work schedule. Must be
able to work three days in the office.
As the Payroll Accountant, you will play a vital role in the company’s financial operations, handling a variety of payroll functions. Your key responsibilities will include processing multi-state payroll, maintaining and optimizing our payroll system, monitoring timeclock entries and data, and managing garnishments. Beyond these core tasks, you will also contribute to analysis, finance, accounting, benefits administration, and administrative responsibilities.
What You’ll Do:
- Process payroll transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Verify timekeeping records and resolve discrepancies.
- Calculate wages, deductions, wage garnishments and overtime.
- Process regular and supplemental payrolls for all employee groups within the company HRIS, including complex payroll calculations, verification of relevant forms, and preparation of payroll checks and direct deposits.
- Conduct audits on time records and other payroll changes to ensure accuracy, including a full payroll reconciliation after each payroll run.
- Collaborate with HR regarding new hires, termination and benefit deductions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies, including 401k accounts.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- High school diploma or GED required; an undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Two (2) or more years of proven experience in a payroll accountant or similar role.
- Experience with payroll systems; Paylocity experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals, ensuring projects meet the stated and implied needs of both internal and external customers while adhering to quality and deadline expectations.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; ability to convey information clearly and simply to a wide variety of individuals.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform detailed work, synthesizing distinct data/information sets to provide valuable insights.
- Genuine willingness to learn, coupled with intuition, resourcefulness, and coachability.
- Analytical approach to tasks, applying strong problem-solving skills to ensure effective and efficient outcomes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, with the ability to create, format, and manage spreadsheets.
- Proven ability to maintain confidential information.

Compensation:
Salary range between: $60 - $85k
